Upcoming Performance Days
Three times a year, students at Orchard Elementary will have an opportunity to share their own musical talents with others. This is also an opportunity to learn about performance & appropriate audience behavior.
Performances should be less than three minutes (a portion of a piece is just fine). Anything rooted in music is welcome (dance, singing, playing an instrument, rap, etc.) There is no need for a perfect, polished performance. Students are welcome to present something they are still working on. Students can perform in groups. Original compositions are fantastic! Accompaniment is not necessary. Please don’t bring or request music with inappropriate content or words.
There is a small possibility that a student could perform twice. This is not guaranteed and will only occur if there is extra time at the end of the class. Also, silliness is not a reason to perform.
I have access to a large music library, but there is not guarantee that I'll have the music you want. We also have a bluetooth speaker if you want to bring your own track. Remember that music track requests must be made at least the week before performance day!
Students will not be allowed to call home if they forget their instrument or music. I'd like them to be responsible for remembering themselves. I'll try to send reminders ahead of time to help.
Parents are welcome to join us during your child’s class time. Parents are also invited to perform. If you do join us and are running late, please enter the room between musical numbers. The children are learning about performance etiquette and the importance of entering or exiting between numbers. It's difficult to reinforce this concept when parents regularly do otherwise.
